The property is located in the heart of the village directly overlooking Aberdovey’s (Aberdyfi) picturesque Church Bay with its moored fishing boats and Plynlimon (Pumlumon) mountain range beyond. Minafon was built over 180 years ago, originally for the sea captains of the sailing ships that transported the raw materials from this part of Wales to the rest of the world.
The unique appearance of this building is its bowed glass windows, allowing the captains’ unrestricted views of the harbour jetty, Church Bay and the Eastern reach of the Dovey (Dyfi) Estuary. This also lets you admire the outstanding views looking South over the estuary, watching local fishermen set out on their daily fishing trips, as well as, the sailing and wind boarding enthusiast ,zigzagging their way across the waters of the Dovey , only a stones throw away from your front door.
For walkers, there is a choice of routes, to the East is the Old Roman Road and Picnic Island leading past the Outward Bound Centre and on to the hills beyond. To the West are walks along the beach to Tywyn 4 miles away, or up to Bwlchgwyn with its panoramic views over Cardigan Bay and Happy Valley. Further afield is the beautiful Cader Idris Mountain Range and Blue Lakes, which are just 30 minutes drive away.
For Golfers there is Aberdovey Golf Club rated as one of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the UK. The club has hosted many championships, including more recently the British Ladies' Home Internationals, and is also the regular home of the Welsh Seniors' Championship.
Minafon sleeps 8 and has:
On the ground floor is a kitchen and dining room with sea views, there is also access to a cellar and back yard, which is excellent for storing and drying wet clothes or equipment.
The First Floor has a bathroom with separate toilet, a twin rear bedroom with sink and the main lounge with stunning sea views. There is also a door to the rear gardens with views over the sea. This can also be a suntrap, with parts of the garden being steep sloping and a bridge from the house to the garden care should be taken with young children and they should be supervised at all times.
The Second Floor has a toilet and shower, rear bunk bedroom, 2 front double bedrooms. Again both front bedrooms have views over the estuary.
Short Breaks are not available during High Season, Peak Season and Holidays.
